Your voice is your quietest superpower. Learn to use it on purpose.

People decide whether to trust you long before they’ve weighed your words. They’re listening to your pitch, your pace, your breath, and the moments when you choose to say nothing at all. Strategic Sound & Silence is an energetic, hands-on keynote about the voice as an instrument of presence and authority. It’s built on a simple premise from Susan Cain: you don’t need to become someone new, just more fully you. Through partner exercises, live demonstrations, and a few moments of being willing to look a little silly, the audience discovers how others hear them. They learn how vowels and consonants carry different messages, why a well-placed pause can say more than a paragraph, and how to quiet the inner critic that undermines their voice before they ever open their mouth.

The Program

  • What is your voice communicating? A partner exercise compares how people hear themselves with how others actually hear them.

  • The sound of authority. Vowels bring warmth, color, and emotion, while consonants bring clarity, boundaries, and priority. Volunteers try both, and the room feels the difference.

  • The power of the pause. A silent-listening exercise shows what intentional silence makes possible in meetings, negotiations, and conflict.

  • Embody it. Breath, pitch, pace, and power stances help align the body with the message, so confidence shows up before it’s fully felt.

  • Mind the voice inside. Affirmations and an introduction to Positive Intelligence® Saboteurs, the inner critics that shape how we speak to ourselves.
