I’ve been doing some research on a new organization: the International Listening Association. I decided to join, and just submitted an announcement about my book, “Head, Heart & Hands Listening in Coach Practice” along with a lovely review by one of their established members -whom I met through a rare bit of synchronicity.
Laura Janusik is a listening researcher and coach. She led an excellent online workshop for ATD a few months ago which I tuned in for. At the end of the session, she offered a raffle for a reduced cost workshop of hers: the winner would be the person who got closest to the number she was thinking of between 1 and 50.
Suddenly, the number 27 popped clearly into my mind. I could see it – vividly – and felt sure that this was the exact number. Sure enough, 27 was the correct number! I took her workshop and followed up by sending her my book on listening (which she reviewed – beautifully) we kept in touch and we are now exploring a way to work together – which is exactly the kind of result I was hoping for in getting my book out into the world.
That strong sense of “knowing” is very rare for me. I would love to have this kind of thing happen more frequently. I suspect my renewed commitment to meditation may have helped.
Plus making time to re-read some parts of Christian Busch’s excellent The Serendipity Mindset – a very practical and also insightful mapping of what constitutes luck and chance – parts of which I used as a resource for Ruthie’s story in my own book!
**What do you think are the magic ingredients to this kind of serendipitous synchronicity?**
