I’ve been intrigued for some time with podcasting.  I’m very taken with the potential to broadcast powerful true stories via audio flash and human imagination.  Some of my favorites include The Hidden Brain and RadioLab; specifically, the kinds of stories they tell, and the audio elements they use to help energize the material.  Kelly Merrilland I got excited about the theme of our last PechaKucha Night, and we are planting seeds for a new podcast titled (for now) Radical Compassion: Neighbors Next Door Who Take. It. On.  This’ll be a whole new challenge, but we are excited and determined, and we want to give a shout out to Tanner Campbell of Portland Podfor his awesome assistance.

What’s Your Listening Style?

I’ll be giving my interactive workshop Listen Up! on May 21st for Maine ATD at the Portland Country Club.  This was a big hit with Maine DEP and I’m really happy to dig in to this topic again!  See more here.  This highly experiential 1.5 hour workshop offers a unique opportunity to learn about ourselves as Head, Heart or Hands listeners, and how those skills ultimately benefit our emotional as well as our transactional intelligence. *Especially beneficial for teachers, team managers, customer service representatives, and professionals often required to engage in conflicted, stressed or hostile interactions.

Responses from previous Listen Up! workshops: “Super Beneficial!”  “A great new tool to use in stressful situations.”  “Thanks for such an interesting and USEFUL training.”  “Terrific presentation!  I was engaged the whole time.”  “Bring this one back!”

Always…. a bit of Improv!

I’ll be a speaker/facilitator for this breakout session at the upcoming Maine Women’s Conference  September 18th, Holiday Inn By the Bay in Portland, ME.  You can grab your tickets now for: Say Yes! Improv Skills in Life, Career & Team Experience “Say Yes!” is a highly experiential opportunity for managers, supervisors, leaders, & their teams to actively explore the many intersections between improvisation & real life, with “improv”ed authenticity, communication, deeper trust & resilience when faced with ongoing change.

Responses from previous Say Yes! workshops: “Best workshop I’ve attended in a long time.”  “I have solid strategies I can apply to my team’s communications.”  “Who knew Improv could offer effective business tools?!?”  “Thanks for a terrific session Kym!”
